SURGICAL OPERATIONS

Mastering should, of course, not reshape a mix, but establish consistency, preserve and enhance the track's DNA, while meeting targeted technical standards. Atmo Records handles every mix in a surgical manner, based on the track's DNA and specific trouble spots. Atmo records developed individual basic mastering chains for each series of each artist, that are individually tweaked track by track in the actual technical and creative mastering process. However, mastering includes also prepping and polishing, and Atmo Records takes every step very seriously, with saintly patience.

LOUDNESS WAR

Loudness matters, music matters more? Does it make it sound louder, or does it make it sound better? A louder master is not automatically a better master, but on the other hand, Atmo Records doesn’t master for streaming platforms. However you look at it, what psychoactive electronic music mixes demand from their masters is movement, depth, contrast, detail, but also grit and muscles. So, the loudness war is not Atmo Records´ circus, not Atmo Records` monkeys.

MUSIC WINS

Releases by Atmo Records are mastered to an internal standard of -0.5 dBTP True Peak and -7.5 to -11 LUFS Integrated, depending on the required space to breathe, in club master versions. The undisputed goal is to retain an acceptable, club-shaking loudness on the one hand, and preserving the punchy micro-dynamics of transients, as well as allowing movement in the loudness range on the other hand. No matter if powerful, punchy and muscular, or clear, transparent and dynamic, masters by Atmo Records never are overcooked. Loudness matters, music matters more.
